This Past Weekend

We visited Stephen Grande's parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, cats, dogs, guinea pigs, etc. And I made this fun 7 layer salad to go along with the amazing beef tenderloin my mother-in-law prepared for dinner on Saturday night.

*By the way...I don't like the term mother-in-law. I think it has a bad connotation. So for the rest of this post I will call my mother-in-law by her name...Jill... aka Bobbi (her grandmother name).

Stephen Small drooling over the soon-to-be homemade bacon bits that topped my salad. Recipe coming soon.

All cousins were present and Stephen Small bonded especially with his cousin Garrick (22 months). They really gave Jill's Tupperware cabinet a hurtin.'

On Sunday our niece, Georgia, was baptized. And THESE gorgeous roses were the centerpiece for Sunday lunch in her honor.

That shade of pink. The deep turquoise vase. Take my breath away. I found myself wandering in the dining room just to admire them all weekend.

After Sunday dinner we enjoyed 2 different kinds of cake and sipped on coffee with cream. The only time I drink coffee with cream (half n half) is when I visit Stephen Grande's family. Such a treat.

Following coffee we had some serious play time. I was the designated guarder of that Poinsettia on the right. Garrick and Stephen Small wanted to do the same number on it as they did on the Tupperware.

I distracted them with the staircase.

With help from their Uncle Stuart and his cool college friend.

*I have never seen college boys be so kind and attentive to babies.
It really made these little guys feel special.
Eventually the party was moved to the living room to play with the guest of honor, Georgia (7 months).

I tried so hard to get a great picture.
Come on babies, look at the camera...Garrick, you get in it too.

Oh never mind. Babies can never get it together for a picture.

So I decided to take one of Stephen Grande.

He's so attractive. Especially when he's holding my baby.
You should see him when he's pushing a stroller.

*Maybe I'll keep those photos to myself.

Oh this is a good one...4 Spooner men in one place. 4 generations. Is that neat or what?!
And while I got ya here, may I share something else that is neat?

I married a Presbyterian preacher's son (Stephen Grande).
He is 1 of 5 children.
3 girls, 2 boys.

My grandmother also married a Presbyterian preacher's son (my grandfather).
He was 1 of 5 children.
3 girls, 2 boys.

I just think that's neat.

And that's not all I've got...

My mom and her sister both married sons of surgeons named George.

Weird.

Neat.

Okay, I'm probably driving y'all crazy (if you are still reading).

Sometimes I get carried away. All I really wanted to say in this post is that we had a nice weekend. Hope you did too.

Happy Monday. Hope you all have a wonderful week!
